We have two shifts available each meet to accommodate schedules and small children please be flexible if possible. We need to cover BOTH shifts for each meet which means a lot of volunteers! Shift 1 arrive before warm-ups and work to end of Backstroke Shift 2 you will need to be at the pool and IN POSITION BEFORE the Breaststroke begins and will work through the end of the meet. Contact Kim Fulcher ( HYPERLINK "mailto:kefulcher@gmail.com" kefulcher@gmail.com) VOLUNTEER POSITIONS TIPS & JOB DETAILS Number Writer: Please arrive at the pool BY 4:30 for Home meets and BY 4:45 for AWAY meets and you will be provided with a list of numbers for 10 and under kids. Ask their name, find their number and then write that number on the outside of both arms. Sharpies and list of names provided. Clerk of Course: A team of 4 parents will organize the swimmers into heats and lanes. The kid pushers will bring the swimmers to the Clerk of Course area and you will find the 3 main event swimmers and place them in the first heat in the assigned lanes. You will place the rest of the swimmers in subsequent heats. Kid Pushers: Your job is to collect all of the kids from the age group you are assigned (will have a sign to hold up) and take them to the Clerk of Course. You will be provided with a copy of that age-group line up. You will need to line up the relay and Main Event swimmers before dropping them off at the Clerk of Course. Runners: Two per shift needed. One runner will be responsible for taking the Main Event cards from the Clerk of Course to the Recorder (standing with Place Judges). The other runner will be responsible for taking the Main Event cards which have been recorded to the Scorers. You are also both responsible for picking up any disqualification (DQ) slips from the Stroke & Turn Judges standing along side of the pool. Recorder: You will record all of the placements of the swimmers during the Main Event heats. You will watch the Place Judges who will give you the 1st through 6th places by lanes. In the event of a tie, the Place Judges will call it you only have to write it down. Place Judge: You will be assigned a placement (1st, 3rd or 5th for Home Meets & 2nd, 4th, or 6th for Away Meets). Your job will be to determine which lane came in your place during Main Event heats ONLY. In the event of a tie you will need to work with the other judges to determine a resolution. (Passionate swim parents are best in this position.) Scorer: You will write down the points on a scoring sheet, including swimmers name, place they came in, winning time if it was 1st place, and number of points earned. Then pass the sheets to the Ribbon Writers. Ribbon Writers: You will be provided with Pre-places labels (1st 6th) on all place ribbons. You will fill in the swimmer names and event. Ribbons will be pre-sorted based on the order of the events. Ribbon Distributor: You will stand at the end of the finishing lanes and pass out ribbons to the Heat Winners and Participants. This is ONLY during 6 & Under, 7 8 and 9 10 NON-Main Event Heats. Timers: Will time EVERY heat with exception of Relays. For the 6 & Unders you will time along the side of the pool where the 15 yard line is. For the 7-8s and 9-10s you will time at the shallow end of the pool. For the Relays and the 11 and olders you will time at the starting end of the pool. You will have a short meeting at the beginning of the meet, usually around 5:30, to meet with the TSA Reps and the Starter to get more information regarding that meet in particular. You will write down the time for the swimmer in your lane from each heat.
