June 11 -- at Apex

The Marlins traveled down to Apex last night for the first meet of the season against the Apex Breakers. The weather was perfect and so was the outcome as we won the meet 307-207.

A lot of great swims with some notable standouts.

Double winners:
Kiki Lowe; 6& under girls in the free and breast.

Triple winners:
Cole Heuer; 9-10 boys in the free, back and fly.
Devin Whitlock; 9-10 girls in the free, back and breast.
Francesca Massie; 11-12 girls in the free, back and fly.
Ross Noble; 13-14 boys in the free, back and breast.
Sam Lucht; 15-18 boys in the free, breast and fly.

We also had a few Seven Oaks team records fall:

Michael James White broke the 6& under boys record for the free
Devon Whitlock broke the 9-10 girls record for the free
Ross Noble broke the 13-14 boys record for the back.

Next up is a home meet on the 18th against Shepherds Vineyard.

June 18 -- Shepherds Vineyard

It rained everywhere in Raleigh on Tuesday except at Seven Oaks where the Marlins hosted Shepherd's Vineyard. There were a couple of delays for thunder, but we completed the meet and won 319-195 to go 2-0 for the season.

There were a lot of great swims, particularly by our younger kids. Notable standouts:

Double winners:
Michael James White in the 6&under boys free and back
Chloe Marks in the 6&under girls free and back.

Triple winners:
Devon Whitlock in the 9-10 girls free, back and breast
Ross Noble in the 13-14 boys fly, back and breast


Devon and Ross also set team and pool records in the backstroke.

Next up is Merideth Towns at home on the 25th.

June 25 -- Meredith Townes

The Marlins hosted the Meredith Towns Mud Puppies last night and came out on top with a 310.5-203.5 win, to go 3-0 for the year. The kids also got to pie the coaches for charity so it was a fun and loud night.

Double winners:
Wyatt Tull in the 6&under free and breast.
Chloe Marks in the 6&under free and back.

Triple winners:
Ross Noble in the 13-14 boys back, breast and fly.
Kate Kinlaw in the 7-8 girls free, breast and fly.
Devon Whitlock in the free, back and fly.
Taylor Morris in the free, back and fly.

We also have new pool and team records set by Ross Noble in the 13-14 boys Fly.

Next up we host our neighbors, the Greystone Gators on July 2nd.

And if you've ever wondered what is happening down at the lap pool on Tuesdays, come down and watch a meet.These kids are good!

July 2 -- Greystone

The Marlins hosted our neighbors the Greystone Gators last night at Seven Oaks. It was senior night for Connor Chignel and Sammy Lucht, who will go on to swim in college at Case Western and George Mason respectively. Both have been mainstays on the team for close to a decade, and their contributions will be missed. Good luck with your future endeavors Sammy and Connor!

The meet was a loud affair with a lot of cheering on both sides and ended up with the Marlins coming out on top 327-187 to keep our 100% record and go 4-0 for the season.

Double winners:
James Michael White in the boys 6&under free and back

Triple winners:
Ross Noble in the 13-14 boys back, breast and fly
Sammy Lucht in the 15-18 boys free, breast and fly
Kate Kinlaw in the 7-8 girls free, breast and fly
Devon Whitlock in the 9-10 girls free, back and fly
Katie Chignell in the 13-14 girls free, breast and fly

New Pool records:
Cole Venters, Sam Watkins, Ross Noble, Mason Scott in the 13-14 boys free and medley relays

And to round out an outstanding swimming career at Seven Oaks, Sammy Lucht set new team and pool records in the 15-18 boys breaststroke.

Next up is away at Granite Falls, the other unbeaten team in our division.

July 9 -- at Granite Falls

The Marlins headed up to Granite Falls in Rolesville last night to face the Granite Falls Gators, Unfortunately, we fell short by 50 points and suffered our first loss of the year 281-233.

Double winners:
James Michael White in the boys 6&under free and back.

Triple winners:
Riley Hawkins in the 11-12 girls free, back and breast.
Ross Noble in the 13-14 breast, back and fly.

New team records:
Devon Whitlock in the 9-10 girls free.
Ross Noble in the 13-14 boys back and fly.

We may not have won the meet, but we did break a few pool records at Granite Falls:
Michael James White in the boys 6&under free and back
Devon Whitlock in the 9-10 girls free.
Chloe Monks in the 6&under girls back
Scout Carver in the 6&under girls breast
Ross Noble in the 13-14 boys back, breast and fly.
Sammy Lucht in the 15-18 boys breast.

Next up is our final head to head meet, Tuesday the 16th at the University Club.

July 16 -- at University Club

The Marlins travelled down inside the beltline on Tuesday evening to take on long time rivals, the University Club Psychos.It was a loud meet, with a sea of green signs, shirts, caps and noisemakers. A lot of great swims and team spirit resulted in a 290.5-223.5 victory, putting us at 5-1 for the season.

Double winners:
Cora Powell in the 6&under girls free.

Triple winners:
Cole Heuer in the 9-10 boys free, back and fly.
Ross Noble in the 13-14 boys back, breast and fly.

We broke a few University club pool records:
Chloe Marks in the 6&under girls back.
Ross Noble in the 13-14 boys back.
Our 7-8 girls relay broke the free relay record : D Whitlock, S Savage, C Powell, R Leary.
Our 13-14 boys also broke the free relay record: M Scott, R Noble, S Watkins, C Venters.

And we had a couple of new Seven Oaks team records fall:
Our 7-8 boys broke the Medley relay: M DiGrazia, P Hemminger, B Marks and D Miller.
Mason Scott broke the 13-14 boys free record.

Next up is the TSA on Saturday at TAC in Cary. This is the end of year summer swim championship for all the marbles. If you're planning on going, wear green and be loud! We'll need all hands on deck to pull this out and bring the trophy back to Seven Oaks where it belongs!

July 20 -- TSA Championships

On Saturday, the Marlins traveled down to the Triangle Aquatics Center in Cary for the TSA Championships. 88 teams came together over two days for great team spirit and a lot of fast swimming. The top five teams were:

Seven Oaks Marlins: 1610
University Club Psychos: 1215
Granite Falls Gators: 1185.5
Cary Park Sea Dragons: 803
Brier Creek Barracudas: 655.5

Congratulations to every Seven Oaks kid who came out and swam or cheered on a sibling, all of the parents, volunteers and relatives and our wonderful coaches who all contributed to the Marlins becoming the 2019 TSA Champions!!!
We had great swims and personal bests in every age group and more than a few new records.
