Apex
June 12

The Marlins kicked off the 2018 summer swim season with a match up against the Apex Breakers. It was an exciting and close meet which came down to one point, with Apex coming out ahead, 257-256.
Notable performances..

Ross Noble was a triple winner in the 13-14 boys back breast and fly.
Devon Whitlock was a triple winner in the 7-8 girls back breast and fly.

Shepherd's Vineyard

June 19

The Marlins traveled down to Cary last night to take on Shepherds Vineyard, and picked up their first win of the season 277.5-236.5!
A lot of great performances, but here are a few that stood out.
Our 9-10 girls broke Shepherds Vineyard pool records in the free and medley relays. So congrats to Francesca Masi, Devon Whitlock, Drew Ianelli and Sarah Mester!
Triple winners:
Will Hemminger (7-8 boys) in the free, back and fly.
Francesca Masi (9-10 girls) in the free back and fly.
Cole Clodgo (11-12 boys) in the free, back and fly.
Ross Noble (13-14 boys) in the back breast and fly.


Next up is at home against the Meredith Townes Mud Puppies at home on the 26th. GO MARLINS!!!

Meredith Townes

June 26

On June 26th, the Marlins hosted the Meredith Townes Mud Puppies, coming up short and losing the meet 229-284.

Double winners were Jackson Boyd (6 & under boys) in the free and back
Triple winners were Francesca Masi (9-10 girls) in the free, back and fly.

Northbrook

July 3

On Tuesday the Marlins traveled to Northbrook, coming out ahead 350-164. A lot of great swims and a blast from the blast with coaches squaring off in a relay.

Our triple winner was Mia Kaplan (11-12 girls) in the free, back and fly.


Next up is away to Greystone, so if you've ever thought of going to an away meet now is the time! Wear green and GO MARLINS!!!

Greystone

July 10

The Marlins traveled to Greystone on the 10th and came away with our third win for the season, 312.5-201.5. Great swims all around. Here are the highlights.

Triple winners..
Will Hemminger (7-8 boys) in the free, back and fly.
Kylen Tischner (7-8 girls) in the free, breast and fly.
Cole Clodgo (11-12 boys) in the free, back and fly.
Mia Kaplan (11-12 girls) in the free, back and fly.
Ross Noble (13-14 boys) in the back, breast and fly.

We also have a new Seven Oaks team record set by Ross Noble in the 13-14 boys backstroke.

Our final head to head is against University Club at home on Tuesday, July 17th. So be there, be loud and wear green! GO MARLINS!!

TSA Championship

The Marlins traveled down to Cary this past weekend to compete in the TSA Championships, the two day end of season meet for summer swim. After a long day, a lot of great sportsmanship, team spirit and many personal bests we were edged out by the University Club, 1325-1262. Here are some highlights...

With 55 points scored, Sammy Lucht was the highest point scorer of all the 15-18 boys at the meet. Congratulations, Sammy!

Swim Team Banquet

The Seven Oaks Marlins gathered to celebrate another exhilarating summer swim season and honor the hardworking kids and parents who participated.

While all the parents were thanked for their efforts, special mentions were given to Jim Lucht, TSA representative; Kim Fulcher, volunteer coordinator; Chris Scott, data entry; Lisa Lucht, recorder; Paul Gessner, Eric Hawkins, Carol Muth and Tory Mitchener, place judges; Stephanie Hawkins and Lori Edwards, Clerk of Course; Courtney Watkins, starter, Grover Godwin, announcer; Ann Godwin and Kevin Chignell, stroke and turn; Derek Noble, meet reports.

More importantly, kids in every age group were honored for their hard work, fast swimming and team spirit.

The Age Group Swimmers of the Year were:6 and under - Jackson Carpenter and Evie Uhland,
7/8 - Miles DiGrazia and Avni Lutz,
9/10 - Jack Lotterhos and Hudson Smith
11/12 - Thor Kratz and Skylar Sarvar
13/14 - Cole Venters and Elizabeth Phillips
15 to 18 - Ben Russell and Casey Strauss

The Coaches Awards went to James Mailly and Kylen Tischner

Most Improved Swimmers were Sophie Harp and Beck Roarty

Most Valuable Swimmers were Ross Noble and Kyle Tischner

Bill Sonner Spirit Award went to Hays Poole and Lauren Kuppinen

There were a few more records broken during the season not mentioned in previous meet reports. The 13-14 boys relay team of Sam Watkins, Justin Strauss, Mason Scott and Ross Noble broke the 7 Oaks pool record with a time of 1:39.06. The 15-18 boys related team of Connor Chignell, Sammy Lucht, Zach Benson and Grayson Roberts broke the Greystone pool record with a time of 1:40.40. At the same meet, Sammy Lucht also broke the 7 Oaks team record in the breast stroke with a time of 27.53.
